Step inside a realm known as the twilight zone — a narrow, dimely lit band of the world’s oceans more mysterious to scientists than the surface of the Moon. In this groundbreaking new aquarium exhibit, located within the California Academy of Sciences’ newly updated Coral Reef’s of the World gallery, discover the beauty and importance of the little-known reefs that exist between 200 and 500 feet below the ocean’s surface — beyond the range of traditional SCUBA gear but above the depths typically explored by submersibles. Meet spectacularly colorful fish and rarely seen inverterbrates., learn about the innovative technologies that are enabling Academy scientists to study this new frontier, and discover what you can do to help protect these amazing — an vitally important— ecosystems.

Asteroids and comets have collided with our planet throughout its history, changing the course of life on Earth and shaping the world we know today. Incoming!, the latest original planetarium show from the California Academy of Sciences, explores the past, present, and future of our Solar System and the landmark discoveries scientists have made sending spacecraft to visit tiny worlds. Cutting-edge visualizations will bring real-time data from current NASA missions to life while taking audiences on a ride through the dynamic story of our cosmic origins. Along the way, audiences will discover what these impacts from above can teach us — and how scientific advances may allow us to find and track cosmic threats before they reach planet Earth.
