When visiting BVMNH you will see local Miocene (14-16 million years old) fossils from Shark Tooth Hill area. In addition, there are African, Asian and North American animal mounts, petrified wood collection, Native American artifacts, gem and minerals, Dinosaurs, and an interactive hands-on science discovery center designed for children, but has something for all ages to enjoy.
BVMNH is the only museum in central California that has Anthropology, Archeology, Astronomy, Anatomy, Biology, Geology and paleontology all at one location. The museum has over 14,000 sq ft of exhibits and displays.

The Bakersfield Museum of Art provides a broad spectrum of visual arts experiences through the exhibition and preservation of fine art, educational programs, community outreach, and special events. The Museum endeavors to:

Our 14-acre zoo focuses exclusively on animals native to our Golden State. Founded in 1980 and opened to the public in 1983, CALM displays and interprets native California animals, plants, fossils, and artifacts to teach a respect for all living things through education, recreation, conservation, and research.
